Being a successful young entrepreneur is much more than just having a good idea, knowing your sales numbers and financial statements, pitching your product when you meet people. It takes more

Having business & professional etiquette, impeccable social manners anywhere you find yourself can take you places.

From business meetings to public events to customer interactions to exchanging with colleagues to meeting new people you will need to consider your behaviour and attitude.

Being respectful, polite, prompt (respecting people’s time), not checking your phone in meetings or when interacting, refrain from gossiping or spreading rumours, courtesy, niceness among others are critical in your Entrepreneurial growth. Poor behaviour is not only bad, it’s bad for business. Unfortunately, it is a growing problem among us.

As a young entrepreneur, if you want to do good business, make good sales, deliver good service, build healthy client relationships, build sustainable businesses that serve and lead better societies, you must be vigilant and not let manners and courtesy disappear from your daily practices.

How to practice good manners

1. Become Intentional. Make that concrete decision today that you will become a person of good manners and in any situation, you will behave exceptionally well. It could be a situation where you are eating, eat right.

2. Don’t think only about yourself. Become a servant leader at heart and with actions, become someone who is always conscious of serving and making people feel loved, honoured and respected

3. Choose your words right. Make that decision to always speak and sound right. Speak respectfully, listening to understand so you can respond right. Beware of miscommunication

4. Think before you react:  Have you ever said or done something that in the end you regretted? I guess you said yes. So, next time when something happens think carefully before you react. For some people they cannot 1 to 20 before reacting and it also give them time to think
