“How you carry yourself around especially in events is part of your brand” I have had the privilege of being part of top events for young people, Entrepreneurs, corporate structures mostly as a speaker and sometimes a participant

Many times am fascinated how young people carry themselves in public, how they approach people. Get this man, the way you carry yourself may be communicating more than you know to the next person or people in the hall.

In events, when you appear genuinely confident, people will be more inclined to give you the attention and respect that you deserve. If you appear uncomfortable and insecure, on the other hand, people may be quick to dismiss or discredit you. Master the art of engaging people right

Now, let me share with you some tips on how to appear confident and get people’s attention and respect

1. Posture: Your posture is one of the things others will notice about you as soon as you walk in. Hold your head high, keep your gaze at eye level, Keep a strong smile and walk like you own the stage
2. Engage right: You can do this by having a great handshake with the right eye contact and smile. Begin with compliment, a story if you know something about the person you are approaching, or begin with question like “Am looking forward to the speaker have you heard him or her speak before?
3. Develop an elevator pitch: Many events will always offer you the opportunity to tell your story or what you are doing so avoid not making sense when you find yourself in events by taking time to develop a 30 to 50 seconds pitch which describe yourself, your passion and business. Make sure you make it informative and compelling
4. Listen more, process, understand and respond right: There is actually so much to learn from people from diverse cultures, backgrounds and industries. So in events, spend your time asking questions and listening more to learn more. When you ask intelligent questions it send a strong message to the other party.

In your next event, practice these few fundamentals and you will be amazed at the feedback you will observe. Have a good attitude and People will be attracted to your good attitude.
